New model of a revived brand.
This year, Angelus celebrates its 10th birthday. Or, more accurately, 10 years since its revival in 2011 when the brand was bought by La Joux-Perret. In 2015, five years after the change in management, the company released its first model, U10 “Tourbillon Lumière”. Although eagle-eyed watch history buffs saw in it an homage to several dials of vintage Angelus table clocks, it is more likely that the brand started with an entirely clean slate. Company’s latest release, Angelus U30 Black Titanium, is another proof of that.
Each of the five Angelus U30 limited edition pieces is powered by the skeletonized automatic caliber A-150 equipped with a tourbillon and a double column wheel. This is not a simple stopwatch, but a Flyback chronograph that allows the user to instantly restart the chrono without resetting and, similar to a split-seconds chronograph, is capable of timing different events that begin but do not end together.
If you are interested in finding out who the fastest of two race drivers or cyclists is, there’s nothing stopping you. Just start the count and, after the first racer crosses the finish line, press the split seconds button. The central second hand becomes two, with one part stopping and the other continuing to follow the second athlete.
A look at the dial offers a view of a mixture of pointy angles and rounded parts as well as several types of finishing of the movement components. This visibility is achieved by, among other things, the large size of the case. The black DLC-coated titanium case is 47 mm in diameter and 15 mm thick. The ultra-sporty look is completed by a black rubber strap.
