A limited edition pays tribute to the famous multibrand watch retailer.
Collaborations are a surprising trend of our times, or scourge, depending on your perspective. Everyone is collaborating with everyone, and partner projects between watch bands and retail chains are already beginning to look like respect for tradition.
Some of the most striking and impressive projects are the exclusive models created for the Bucherer network of watch retail stores now owned by Rolex, although the acquisition hasn't stopped the retailer from working with other brands.
One of the latest novelties is the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon Bucherer Edition in striking gray monochrome. The ultra-minimalistic palette for the model released as a limited edition of just eight pieces looks particularly striking when you consider that Bucherer usually only works with manufacturers within their BLUE project, which utilizes the retailer's signature blue hue.
By the way, Girard-Perregaux has also participated in this project: in 2022, they launched the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Bucherer BLUE with parallel blue bridges in a transparent "glass box" case made of sapphire crystal.
This time, Girard-Perregaux has made use of another legend in their arsenal: the Laureato model, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year. The anniversary celebrant is presented as a tourbillon version that has an arrow-shaped bridge with two sharp tips, reminiscent of the composition of the iconic Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges.
These arrows were also seen on the Esmeralda Tourbillon inspired by the Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges that won the gold medal at the world's fair Exposition Universelle of 1889 in Paris. The Laureato Tourbillon debuted in Girard-Perregaux's line in 2018 as a version with a light blue dial decorated with the Clous de Paris hobnailing pattern.
Now an anthracite gray version of the same classic pattern has appeared. The watch for Bucherer is housed in titanium and white-gold case measuring 43 mm in diameter, and it's powered by an automatic GP09510 movement with a 47-hour power reserve.
Thanks to the micro-rotor, the height of the watch has been kept to just 11.36 mm, despite the presence of a tourbillon. The case is matched with an integrated titanium bracelet.
