The house of Breguet is one of the founders of modern watchmaking.
In 1815 Breguet watchmakers were named by Louis XVIII the official supplier of chronometers for the French Royal Navy. Since that time, the Breguet watches are inspired by the theme of the sea and built especially with accuracy in mind, which makes them in demand both on water and on land.
On the 11th of June, the brand introduced its new items in the Marine collection: three-hand Marine 5517 with a date indicator, marine chronograph Chronographe 5527, and alarm watch Alarme Musicale 5547 with alarm time, alarm power reserve indicators and second-time zone function. Each of them available in titanium rose and white gold cases. This year's innovation - the watch is equipped with gold bracelets.
A hand-painted guilloche technique engraved on gold dials in the form of waves immediately declares that watches belong to the marine collection.
The titanium-cased model stands out among other watches in the collection with a deep gray dial made of gold with a sunburst finish. Polished Breguet hands with hollow, eccentric ‘’moon’’ tips glide over the dials.
In order to be able to see the time in the dark, Breguet watchmakers coated with a luminescent material not only these "moons" but also markers marking every 5 minutes above the Roman numerals.
The unique Breguet style includes another sea feature - the bridges of the open-view mechanism resemble a ship's deck, and the rotor repeats the shape of the steering wheel. Finally, the counterweight of the second hand is made in the form of a reinterpreted version of the corresponding maritime signal flag with the symbol "B": this designation ("Bravo") indicates that the ship is unloading or has dangerous cargo on board, and at the same time reminds of the name of the watch house (B — Breguet).
