Now in rose gold.

The story of Daniel Roth's rebirth follows in the footsteps of the original brand founded by the independent watchmaker in 1988. People began talking about the brand again in 2024 when it was relaunched by LVMH after the holding company and conglomerate acquired the manufacturing platform La Fabrique du Temps, led by Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini.

The first model for the relaunch was the Tourbillon Souscription as a tribute to the Tourbillon Souscription C187 model that Roth's eponymous brand debuted with in 1989. The relaunch received a warm welcome, and the watch was awarded the prize for the best tourbillon at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

The brand started this year with the Extra Plat Souscription: a reinterpretation of the C107: Roth's first model with a time-only display. A second updated version of the C107 has arrived at the end of spring. The Extra Plat Rose Gold replaces monochrome yellow gold with a rose-gold case and a mixed rose- and white-gold dial.

The first edition's Clous de Paris guilloché pattern on the dial has been swapped for a pinstriped "guillochage en ligne" motif, like the pinstripes seen on the Ref. C107 model from 1990.

The degree to which the components have been refined still elicits delight, and reminds you of an important milestone in Roth's career. He was one of the watchmakers behind the rebirth of Breguet, and he spent 14 years painstakingly integrating Abraham-Louis Breguet's historic heritage into the brand's modern models.

The same manually wound DR002 movement from La Fabrique du Temps used in the previous edition has been left unchanged. The movement has a three-day power reserve, and its fine finishing can be admired thanks to a transparent caseback.

This movement with a 65-hour power reserve arrived as a replacement for the historic automatic Frederic Piguet 71 used by Roth (not only for his own models, but also earlier when he worked for Breguet).

The Extra Plat Rose Gold has an instantly recognizable silhouette: Roth's main case shape, known as the double ellipse or the ellipsocurvex shape. The only changes made to it concern the lugs, which have softer curves compared to the Ref. C107 to achieve a better wrist-hugging fit.

The case measures 35.5 mm × 38.6 mm, and is just 7.7 mm in height. The length and width are the same for the Extra Plat Subscription and Tourbillon Rose Gold.
