Celebration of monochrome and muted tones.
Cherepanov has challenged beauty standards for male models. The model and designer brought the first wave of hooligan style from the countries of the former USSR to the world stage.
Now the founder of his own fashion brand and design agency, Vsevolod Sever Cherepanov, wants to shake up conventional perceptions of modern design in Ulysse Nardin's watches. For Ulysse Nardin, Amoureuxpeintre (Cherepanov's artistic moniker) worked to fill minimalism with emotions on the Blast [Amoureuxpeintre] model.
The partners took the Skeleton X as their starting point, only the skeletonized UN-371 movement with its X-shaped architecture has been hidden beneath smoky sapphire crystal.
They achieved a frosted-ice effect using laser, while the fumé (smoked) effect was achieved using metallization. Two years were spent developing this artistic blend. Would-be owners of the 29 limited edition pieces will be able to appreciate the effort put into creating the novelty. Anthracite hands filled with gray Super-LumiNova hover over the mystical surface.
The manufacture movement has a 96-hour power reserve and an extremely light silicon balance wheel with nickel flyweights, housed in a light anthracite-gray titanium case. The impression made by the mysterious matte dial is enhanced by the sandblasted finish on the 42-mm case.
The caseback is also made of frosted sapphire crystal and decorated with Amoureuxpeintre's signature and the watch company's name. The case is attached to a gray Alcantara strap with a gray titanium PVD-coated buckle.
Amid a global boom of collaborations, we don't get to see Ulysse Nardin teaming up to work on projects with partners that often, which makes the Blast [Amoureuxpeintre] all the more interesting.
The Blast [Amoureuxpeintre] must be the brand's attempt to conquer the hearts of young consumers, so the watchmakers at Ulysse Nardin placed their bets on a designer who can definitely find the key to those hearts.
