Miniature puzzle in artistic technique.
Louis Moinet dials have already featured miniature paintings with painstakingly crafted details. But what the artists have done with the three new models from the Savanna Tourbillon series is a complete game-changer. Three filigree miniature paintings are pieced together as real jigsaw puzzles.
The technique used to work craft the 81 pieces of each puzzle was certainly far from ordinary. The artists began by working with the finished puzzle pieced together, only then did they break it up into pieces. They then worked the edges of each piece before reassembling the full picture.
The series consisting of three unique pieces is dedicated to iconic animals from the African continent: the elephant, leopard and lion. Their portraits appear on a background of lush regional vegetation.
Although the watchmaker decided against cluttering the pictures with indexes or numerals, a window for the tourbillon on the dials has been kept for the Savanna Tourbillon capsule collection. The novelties house manually wound movements with twin barrels that can be viewed thanks to the watch's transparent caseback.
The watches run at a frequency of 28,800 vph, and the movement guarantees an impressive 96-hour power reserve. The caliber used for the three models is housed in a classic round case made of rose gold with an alternating finish of polished and satin-brushed surfaces.
The case measures 40.7 mm in diameter. The lugs have also been made lighter (openworked on the sides), and the name of the brand has migrated from the dial to the side of the case.
The winding crown is decorated with Louis Moinet's "Fleur-de-lis" logo. Each of the three editions priced at 140,000 Swiss francs has already found a new owner.
