Paying homage to the resistance of Anglo-American and Mexican settlers in the Texas Revolution.

A landmark war drama film called the Alamo starring Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett hit cinema screens in March 2004. The movie unfortunately went down as one of history’s greatest cinematic flops: with a budget of more than USD 140 million, the flick only generated USD 25.8 million at the box office.

Director John Lee Hancock wasn't able to attract cinema-goers with the story of the heroic resistance mounted by the Texian Army against the Mexican Army. The watchmaker Christophe Claret is bound to have better luck. The Alamo watch was launched in the Legend collection.

It’s dedicated to a dramatic and pivotal event in U.S. history, when 180 besieged Texians withstood around 3000 Mexican soldiers and only two Texan pioneers survived. The watch also honors the traditions of haute horlogerie. Its dial depicts a scene from early spring in the year 1836 and brings tragic pages in America's history to life.

Christophe Claret's depiction of the siege of Fort Alamo on the dial features jaquemart automata figures in a detailed miniature painting, who come alive when the minute repeater strikes.

The musical mechanism controlled by the manually wound caliber NBC98 movement plays the Westminster Chimes, sounding the quarter with different tones (“C D E G”, “G D E C”, “E G D C”).  There are only four notes and four moving parts in the scene on the top half of the dial.

Three unique versions of the Christophe Claret Alamo are available in red gold, titanium and engraved titanium. The engraved version is inscribed with the name of the defender of the Alamo and his nickname, “Davy Crocket The Lion of the West”, his date of birth and death, and a floral arabesque.

Alamo joins the Legend collection which welcomed a whole range of novelties in June, each dedicated to a prominent historical figure: Emperor Jinmu Tennō who was Japan's first emperor, the first king of Saudi Arabia Ibn Saud, Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the conqueror Timur who founded the Timurid Empire.

Now Christophe Claret has decided to change course from East to West: from the founders of eastern empires and modern states to a pivotal battle in U.S. history.
