Biver has created a pièce unique for the TimeForArt auction.

JC Biver brand founder Jean-Claude Biver isn't missing out on the trend for collaborations. But there's a very good cause behind this artistic partnership: the company is creating a one-of-a-kind model for the TimeForArt auction, which will take place in New York on December 7.

The sale will be held to raise funds for the Swiss Institute, which organizes contemporary art exhibitions and supports artists. The artist who teamed up with Biver to work on the Echoes of this Moment model was Guillaume Ehinger.

Their alliance was formed on the basis of close proximity (Biver's workshop in Givrins is only a short distance from Ehinger's studio in Vevey) and friendship (the co-founder of the JC Biver watch company Pierre Biver and Ehinger first met a few years ago through a mutual family friend).

Pierre Biver says that he was attracted to the "emotional depth" in Ehinger's work, which can also be found in pieces created by the Biver family watch business.

The exclusive novelty they've created is built around the 39-mm Automatique case used in Biver's three-hand watch collection (without musical complications or tourbillons). A special frame for the work of art on the dial makes it even more special: this is the first time steel has been used in the collection instead of platinum or rose gold.

A white gold dial served as Ehinger's canvas, which was hand-engraved with a rippling pattern. The dial for the Echoes of This Moment was then coated in multiple layers of colored enamel.

The resulting dial glistens iridescently like the sun's reflection on the surface of a lake. At each glance, the watch creates a different impression, which reflects the idea behind the project encapsulated in the name of the model.

Fans of watch finishing will be delighted with the style of Caliber JCB-003, featuring Clous de Paris engraving and sharply chamfered angles.

The micro-rotor made of 22k gold is engraved with the name of the model and signed with the artist's autograph like all true works of art. The estimate for Biver's artistic lot is CHF 60,000-120,000.
