The novelty takes differences across 24 time zones into account.

Watchmakers cracked the leap year a long time ago, and have managed to deal with the varying length of the month, but regional variation in the observance of daylight saving time still poses an insurmountable challenge, even for many of the renowned watch manufactures.

The watchmakers at Bovet rose to this challenge —  the workshops in the fairytale castle of Château de Môtiers was where the new Bovet Récital 28 Prowess 1 was born. They found a brilliant solution to the task at hand: a watch with World Time which can adjust to factor in a number of the world's timekeeping approaches to seasonal changes.

The movement with a ten-day power reserve provided by a single barrel allows four positions to be switched for 24 time zones: UTC, AST (American Summer Time), EAS (Europe and America Summer Time), and EWT (European Winter Time).

This complicated function is remarkably easy to control using the pusher integrated into the winding crown. Pushing the crown rotates each roller 90 degrees, so every time zone can be individually set for each of the four time periods of the year.

The activated mode is displayed on the roller next to the roller "rays" with names of cities. The crown has three positions in total: winding, setting World Time, and regular timesetting. The activated mode is displayed on an indication at three o'clock.

You can never have too many complications, which is what the watchmakers at Bovet have decided. The revolutionary system of indication is accompanied by their patented double-sided flying tourbillon at 12 o'clock, as well as calendar indications for the day of the week, date, month, and leap year.

The system to adjust calendar readings is safeguarded by a special Function Isolator, which prevents the watch owner from adjusting the perpetual calendar when indications are in the process of changing.

The escapement mechanism inside the tourbillon, which comprises 62 components and weighs a mere 0.35 g, is positioned below the center fixation point, while the cage carrying the balance wheel and spring can be found on the opposite side.

Availability of this complicated watch with a R28-70-00X movement (it comprises 744 components) is limited to an annual output of eight pieces. The future watch owner can choose the frame that will house the innovative movement: the case measures 46.3 mm × 17.85 mm, and comes in titanium, red gold, or platinum.
