An ultra-modern motif for an ultra-thin model.
Above all, Octo Finissimo is famous for setting yet another outstandingly thin record. They already have eight records. The seventh model to set a record was Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar, which was awarded the Aiguille d'Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) last year — an automatic perpetual calendar measuring 5.8 mm in height.
In 2022, Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin picked up the Audacity Prize for the Octo Finissimo Ultra 10th Anniversary. It set the eight record for being the thinnest mechanical watch at the moment it was presented, measuring 1.8 mm in height. But it's no less important that Octo Finissimo set a new standard for watch design with its ultra-thin octagonal wrist-hugging case.
The silhouette is so versatile it can be used for artistic experimentation. The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tattoo Acqua Limited Edition is a good example. It's the second model in the series that Product Creation Executive Director at Bulgari Watches Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani worked on with tattoo-art aesthete Mo Coppoletta.
The idea of adding tattoo dynamics to Octo Finissimo was sparked by Laurent Picciotto, founder of the Parisian Chronopassion boutique. The first project was unveiled last year: the ten-piece Octo Finissimo Tattoo Aria series in titanium.
And they've expanded it with this project, Octo Finissimo Tattoo Acqua, which has already seen the release of 30 pieces. The idea remains the same — the titanium case and dial have been laser-engraved with a tattoo motif by Mo Coppoletta.
The case only measures 5.15 mm in height, and the watch is powered by the self-winding caliber BVL 138, which measures a mere 2.23 mm in height. The movement ensures a 60-hour power reserve and runs at a frequency of 21,600 vph.
