Carl F. Bucherer's brand hasn't stopped highlighting its connection with Lucerne, the city in Switzerland where the company was founded on 1888.

The city's main landmark, the famous Kapellbrücke (lit. Chapel Bridge) decorated the caseback of the Heritage Tourbillon Double Peripheral watch released in 2018, which only conceded a little space for a window so that the tourbillon could be admired on both sides.

Starting in 2016, the brand pretty much built its entire image around its "Made of Lucerne" concept. Watches joined forces with symbols of the city in advertising campaigns, and there was even a homegrown Digital Lucerne Guide released by Carl F. Bucherer. But globalization is inevitable.

The brand decided to broaden the horizons beyond its native Lucerne this year. The new series called Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown Editions includes watches dedicated to both world capitals and other cities in Switzerland — the brand still couldn't resist accentuating its Swiss identity!

The watches are named after cities reflected by the landmarks on the casebacks. It makes the series sound like chapters of a travel guide touring the world's watchmaking strongholds: Lucerne, Basel, Bern, Geneva, St. Gallen, Zermatt and Zurich.

The series has also welcomed watches dedicated to Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Beijing, London, Mumbai, New York and Tokyo. The illustrations in Carl F. Bucherer's travel guide are etched onto each caseback’s sapphire crystal.

The models also differ on the dial side: each dial has a gradual gradient color transition with its own shade chosen based on consultation with the brand’s boutique teams in each respective city. They made unpredictable yet interesting choices: burgundy for Basel, green for Beijing, brown for Lucerne, yellow for Munich, mint for Vienna etc.

Their design is based on the Heritage BiCompax Annual model which debuted in 2018. Its own appearance was inspired by the company's watches from 1950. The steel case of the Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown measures 41 mm in diameter and 14.15 mm in height.

It houses the automatic CFB 1972 with a 42-hour power reserve. Each member of the global Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown series has 88 pieces apart from the model dedicated to Beijing. It's limited to 188 pieces.
