Forged carbon for bestsellers: an anniversary update.

The brand Carl F. Bucherer is marking its 135th anniversary this year. It's no round number, but that hasn't stopped the company from declaring it the start of a new era. And they've put their words into action from the get go: the watchmaker's famous models have appeared in an unconventional carbon design for the brand.

The capsule collection consists of five models. Three are complicated limited edition pieces in black forged carbon with a titanium core or container. Two models are in stainless-steel with a black DLC coating: Manero Flyback Black and Heritage BiCompax Annual Black.

The brand’s devotees may already be familiar with these models, but the new look has given these watches a totally different character, capable of attracting new fans. The flagship of the capsule collection is the Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Black with its patented peripherally mounted floating tourbillon.

The model's carbon case is multi-layered: beneath the forged carbon exterior is a titanium container. It protects the flagship's COSC-certified chronometer movement: CFB T3000 manufacture caliber.

You need to look at earlier versions of these watches to appreciate the scale of change, typically in rose-, yellow- and white-gold with a silver or black dial. Carl F. Bucherer has never unveiled anything like the black Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Black before.

The novelty's case is fairly round (43.10 mm × 12.30 mm), allowing you to appreciate the unique pattern created by the carbon fiber. Few will be able to get their hands on the current novelty with availability limited to 30 pieces.

The perpetual calendar also comes in carbon now with availability limited to 88 for the Manero Peripheral Perpetual Calendar Black. Calendar indications for the date, day of the week, month and the moon-phase display are all controlled by caliber CFB A2055.

Its black coated details can be appreciated thanks to the watch's transparent caseback. This watch engine has also proven it can meet the standards set for chronometers. Now even the moon-phase display has been turned black.

It consists of an aventurine disk and two hand-engraved moons in white gold. Its case measures 41.60 mm in diameter and 12.49 mm in height. The highest limit is set for the Manero Peripheral BigDate Black: a limited edition of 188 pieces.
