To study the components of the original classic Breguet style, it is unnecessary to look into the archives at all: just look at the new Classique models.
Firstly, you should pay attention to the finish of the gold dials (silver-plated or shade of "blue Breguet").
Three traditional patterns are used together in the Classique 7137 model:
- Panier maillé ("wicker basket") for the power reserve indicator,
- Damier ("checkerboard") for the date indicator,
- Clos de Paris ("Parisian nails") for the general background,
- on the Classique 7337 dial, the grain d'orge ornament ("barley grain") can be observed
Secondly, the dials are decorated with characteristic Roman numerals, supplemented by arrows with Breguet "apples" and the almost imperceptible "secret" signature of the master (it was first put on the dial by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1795).
Thirdly, the asymmetry in the arrangement of the novelty pointers was inherited from a pocket watch created around 1812. Now it is stored in the Museum of the brand in Paris.
Lastly, it is worth turning the case around to appreciate the sophistication of the mechanism's finish.
Both models are equipped with an automatic caliber 502.3, details of which the craftsmen decorated manually. An ultra-thin mechanism decorated with "Geneva stripes" reveals a winding drum that provides a 45-hour power reserve.
