A case made of unique material for limited edition by Hublot.
At the LVMH Watch Week, which was moved to New York due to the fires in Los Angeles, Hubot unveiled their impressive Year of the Snake novelty along with a trio of models that showcase the three main groundbreaking fields of work at the manufacture in Nyon.
A more compact 42-mm Big Bang MECA-10 with an impressive power reserve is the result of their experiments with the movement, experiments with colored ceramics are no longer restricted to round Spirit of Big Bang cases, and Hublot's introduction of unique materials from other industries to watchmaking can be seen in the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM.
The novelty in a case made of green SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral) reveals the unique characteristics of this material in a new light. It's similar to sapphire crystal, only with dramatically different specs.
The experts specializing in innovative materials at Hublot explain that sapphire is trigonal (three-sided) while SAXEM is cubic (four-sided), which enhances the intensity of color and shine. Fans of Hublot will already be familiar with SAXEM.
It was used in the Big Bang MP-11 edition from 2019, the next year's Spirit of Big Bang model, and last year's Big Bang Unico. Green SAXEM is continuing its victory march in a model for 2025 which was previously released in a colored sapphire frame.
The ambitions of the engineers at Hublot are understandable, who strive to unveil the technical beauty of the MHUB6035 movement. The automatic caliber with a gold micro-rotor visible on the dial side is transparent to the max: bridges for the barrel, automatic winding gears, and tourbillon barrette have even been made out of sapphire crystal.
The modern architecture of the caliber constructed from 293 components has a 72-hour power reserve. The use of tinted glass in shades of gray for the dial sets a special tone, and only serves to emphasize the brightness of the case material. Availability of the new Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM is limited to a series of 18 pieces.
