Another model connecting the Swiss brand with American history.

Hublot has launched many models exclusively for American collectors in the brand's history. They include Classic Fusion in brushed bronze with a chocolate-colored dial, the special Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph All Black version created for the American artist Shepard Fairey, and the patriotic US Liberty Bang with the American flag.

Models that stand out are the the ones dedicated to specific American cities: Classic Fusion Chronograph Las Vegas Boutique Diamonds, the Spirit of Big Bang Special Edition Rockies in a wintry combination of white and blue for the Aspen Snowmass ski resort, King Power 692 Bang with yellow details in honor of the NYC taxi cab, and the experimental Classic Fusion Concrete Jungle New York.

Now the series of urban models welcomes the Big Bang Unico Magic City dedicated to Miami. The limited edition of 35 pieces are presented in black ceramic cases. The pink, purple and blue color gradation looks particularly vivid against this black backdrop.

This gradual transition of tones has been used for the minute track, small seconds, and numerals. A similar approach has been taken to the colored calfskin strap. The watch also comes with a more subdued black rubber strap.

The colorful composition doesn't distract from the openworked components of the HUB1280 movement. The caliber which belongs to the Unico Manufacture family comprises 354 components and has a 72-hour power reserve.

This watch engine which debuted in 2018 complete with a column wheel (it can be seen at 6 o'clock) measures a mere 6.75 mm in height, which allows rather thin models to be built around it.The 42-mm case for the Big Bang Unico Magic City measures 14.5 in height.

The watch was unveiled at the beginning of December during the Art Basel Miami Beach, when the city becomes an important modern-art hub. Now the manufacture based in the Swiss town of Nyon has brought their vision of the "Art of Fusion" to Miami too.
