Hublot: Memories of Holidays by the Sea

Fridge magnets, beach bags and even drinkware from local Starbucks cafés are all a thing of the past. Hublot is confident that watches can do a better job at reminding you of your summer vacations. Sure, they may be pricier, but we're strictly talking about souvenirs from luxury resorts. Hublot has introduced special models for its boutiques in Saint-Tropez, the Island of Capri and Ibiza.

The casebacks of watches for vacationers visiting Saint-Tropez and Capri display the essential postcard views. No view of Saint-Tropez would be complete without the yellow and pink bell tower atop the church of Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, and the Faraglioni rock formations are Capri's most iconic landmark. The watch dedicated to Ibiza stands out.

After all, this Spanish island isn't so much famous for its tourist attractions as it is for its unique tolerant atmosphere, as the home of the party that never ends. Designers at Hublot have conveyed this with a symbol which is particularly relevant today: a peace sign on the dial with a declaration of the Swiss watch manufacturer’s love for Ibiza on the caseback.

A reference to the island's landscape can actually be found in the choice of colors used on the watch, which pairs a shade of white that reminds you of the houses on the island with a deep sea-blue color. Hublot used colored ceramics to recreate the right shades of blue — the Nyon-based watchmaker is considered a specialist in this area.

Hublot is renowned for creating ceramics in rich bright colors. The watchmaker’s first product was the red bezel on the Red'n'Black Skeleton Tourbillon from 2013, and Hublot has been unstoppable ever since.

The Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Ceramic Blue Ibiza Boutique is limited to a series of 50 pieces in 45-mm deep-blue ceramic cases. The Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Ceramic Capri Boutique (same case size and limit) sports a black ceramic case with a light-blue ceramic bezel.

The same color combination was chosen for the Big Bang Unico St-Tropez Boutique, but this time the case size is 42 mm and the series is limited to just 30 pieces. The chronographs for Capri and Ibiza are equipped with HUB1155 movements that beat at a frequency of 4 Hz and have a 42-hour power reserve. Visitors to Saint-Tropez will have the chance to purchase a watch housing the HUB1280 with an increased power reserve of 72 hours.
