Meet the lemon-yellow Big Bang!
Hublot considers itself an acclaimed specialist in the Art of Fusion, having combined components no one had ever even thought of combining before. The brand is also recognized for a no less important feat: achieving specs for well-known materials which had once seemed impossible.
This has led to the birth of scratch-proof Magic Gold, surprisingly bright colored ceramics and sapphire crystal in really rich colors. The Nyon-based alchemists receive some serious financing for these developments, and they don't disappoint when it comes to meeting management's high expectations.
How they do it remains a closely guarded secret with just a few hints. Many of them are given away by the material’s name, such as the acronym SAXEM, a material first used for the Big Bang MP-11 model in 2019.
The name of the material used for its emerald-green case stands for "Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral" — an alloy of aluminum oxide, the basic component of sapphire, combined with rare earths.
To be more specific, the silvery-gray metals thulium and holmium are named. Achieving each new tone takes a special effort, so the arrival of a new lemon-yellow SAXEM for the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Yellow Neon SAXEM model can be considered another technological breakthrough.
Hublot places particular emphasis on the fact that SAXEM ensures a rich, uniform color when viewed from any angle. SAXEM is contrasted with titanium details: six H-shaped screws on the bezel and the winding crown.
The transparent neon-yellow case frames the skeletonized HUB6035 movement with its micro-rotor at 12 o'clock, positioned directly above the tourbillon at 6 o'clock. The traditional complication is integrated into the movement using modern architecture made up of 282 components.
The choice of a micro-rotor also opens up a view of the movement on the caseback side. The compact rotor doesn't obstruct the view while still ensuring a 72-hour power reserve. Granted, it's not the fortnight's worth of power reserve boasted by the Big Bang MP-11, but it's still more than enough to fulfill basic needs.
Availability of the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Yellow Neon SAXEM is limited to 50 pieces: a serious number when you consider the price they're asking for: CHF 200,000.
