The main event of the spring for the world of watch industry started on April 25.

This year, the traditional exhibitions in Basel and Geneva were replaced by the virtual salon Watches & Wonders. It is attended by 30 prestigious brands that present their new products in the format of video presentations. Among the participants is a watch manufactory from Schaffhausen, which has dedicated 2020 to its Portugieser collection of watches.

The range of exciting new products includes the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon (Ref. 5045), which combines a perpetual calendar and a flying minute tourbillon.

The model is available in two versions – both limited to 50 pieces.

The IWC boutique editions inspired the design of the first model. This is a watch with a blue dial in the 18K Armor Gold case (a version of red gold developed exclusively by IWC, which is significantly harder. This alloy with a pure gold content of 75% has a wear resistance 5-10 times higher conventional gold. The second version of the watch is available in a platinum case. Both watches are equipped with a blue alligator leather strap, created by tanners of the famous Italian company Santoni.

Both watches with Ref. 3940 are manufactured with IWC 51950 caliber with tourbillon, which consists of 82 parts, but weighs only 0.635 g. The perpetual calendar, which independently monitors the length of months and the change of leap years, is combined with the moon phase indicator, which is so accurate that its indicators will need the correction only after 577.5 years.
