The winning combination of a chronograph and a tourbillon.
Despite the fact that the brand Breguet happily ignores the Watches and Wonders trade show, a number of other brands have unveiled novelties inspired by the achievements of Abraham-Louis Breguet, or his friendship with other exceptional historic watchmakers to be more precise.
Arnold & Son pay tribute to Breguet's timepieces based on John Arnold's chronometer movement, while Louis Moinet celebrates two watchmaking friends' main inventions: Breguet's tourbillon, and Moinet's chronograph.
The founder of the modern Louis Moinet brand, Jean-Marie Schaller, loves highlighting the historical significance of Moinet's invention, which the clockmaker referred to as the "Compteur de Tierces" back in 1816.
Thanks to Schaller's efforts, the Memoris watch with an openworked dial was released in 2015, which allowed you to observe the inner workings of the components in the chronograph. The Impulsion was introduced in 2023, where the openworked chronograph was joined by a tourbillon.
The Impulsion is debuting in titanium for Watches and Wonders 2025. Last year, the Impulsion Onyx was presented in red gold with a case middle made of titanium. Now all four parts of the case measuring 42.50 mm in diameter are in titanium (the two lateral sections, the caseback, and the bezel).
Like in 2024, the case middle has a black coating to match the onyx inserts and the disk framing the tourbillon. At the same time, the chronograph counters with striking red hands have been made transparent to avoid obscuring important details of the movement.
The movement itself has been created in partnership with Concepto (Louis Moinet's traditional partner for movement creation), and the watch has been assembled at Louis Moinet's workshop in the Swiss municipality of Les Breuleux.
Concepto is also behind the creation of the movement in the Memoris watch, which was reworked to accommodate the tourbillon and generate a sufficient power reserve. The automatic winding system had to be replaced by manual winding.
The necessary power reserve of 96 hours is provided by a manual double-barrel "volte-face" winding system (two barrels arranged upside down in series that release their energy simultaneously). Availability of the Impulsion Titanium Onyx Ref. LM-114.20.50 is limited to just twelve pieces.
