Ceramic and sapphire crystal are back in action.

The brand Hublot positions itself as a prominent experimenter in various fields, whether it's combining materials that have never been paired before, the search for new alloys, or shaking up the foundations of watch mechanics. The future of Hublot's concept of haute horlogerie lies in a collection with a low-key name: MP (Masterpiece).

This was the collection that welcomed last year's MP-10 Tourbillon model. The easiest way to describe the MP-10 Tourbillon is to list the traditional elements that the watch doesn't have. So here goes: it doesn't have hands, a dial, and most interestingly, its automatic winding system doesn't have the familiar rotor.

Energy is generated by two little white-gold linear block weights that move along a vertical axis. They can be seen on the dial side, positioned on either side of the construction for the unorthodox roller time display. The hours and minutes are shown on rollers above the indication for the 48-hour power reserve, which is built on the same axis.

Another level down at the bottom of the axis is where you can find the indication for the seconds, which has a scale integrated into the tourbillon carriage. The tourbillon tilted at a 35° angle is located at 6 o'clock, although there's technically no 6 o'clock here. It's opposite the winding crown at the top of the case.

The revolutionary movement with 592 components debuted in a titanium case last year, measuring 54.1 mm × 41.5 mm × 22.4 mm. The manufacture announced this year's reissue of the MP-10 Tourbillon this year in a press release, having just delivered all 50 pieces in the first titanium limited edition to their buyers.

Two new versions of the MP-10 Tourbillon have been launched in one go. There are 30 pieces in polished sapphire crystal, where the brand showcases their mastery in working with this material to even create objects with difficult shapes.
