Stone dials were a distinctive feature of many a watch dial in the 1990s, and they're making a comeback.

The latest edition is Omega's 36 mm Trésor. The watchmaker from Biel used this striking green mineral two years ago on the dial of its Seamaster 300. The sports watch for him had a case which measured 41 mm in diameter and was made from 18-karat yellow gold.

That's where the list of similarities ends. A distinctive gold alloy called Moonshine was used as the case material for the new Trésor. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice Moonshine is a shade lighter than traditional yellow gold.

The alloy developed by Omega also promises to be less prone to fading. Moonshine gold debuted as the case material used for the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition model in 2019, which celebrated the American Apollo 11 mission and first moon landing in 1969.

The alloy which combines silver, copper and palladium has now been used in the company's most popular line of watches for her. The case for the new Trésor is decorated with a total of 38 full-cut diamonds curving along each side.

Another diamond has been worked into the winding crown, which is decorated with Omega's floral symbol filled with red liquid ceramic. The same symbol can be seen on the watch's solid caseback concealing the Omega 4061 quartz movement.

This movement has equipped other watches in the De Ville Prestige collection and the Seamaster Aqua Terra ladies' collection. The malachite Trésor is available in two versions with a green leather strap and a bracelet. The latter is worth highlighting in particular, as the bracelet's interwoven surface has been finished with a rippling silk-like pattern.

This bracelet appeared in the Trésor line last year. It was paired with a watch that had a white dial made of Moonshine gold, blanketed with 768 snow-set diamonds. By introducing this mineral in a rich shade of green, Omega has joined the many other watchmakers who've taken advantage of malachite in their latest collections.

There are models with stone dials by Bvlgari (Divas’ Dream and Serpenti Seduttori), Jaquet Droz (Lady 8 Petite Malachite), Piaget (watches from the Possession collection), Louis Erard (Excellence Régulateur Malachite) and Dior (La Mini D de Dior Satine).
