New editions — new capabilities.

At “Watch Art” Tokyo 2023, not only did Patek Philippe exhibit works of fine watchmaking art created using a variety of artisan crafts, they also unveiled fresh versions of models that fans of the watchmaker are already familiar with: new editions with new capabilities.

The Patek Philippe 5208T model sold for CHF 6.2 million at Only Watch 2017 with a minute repeater, monopusher chronograph, and perpetual calendar accompanied by a moon-phase display has now appeared in platinum with a split-seconds chronograph.

The new edition is called Ref. 5308P-010 Quadruple Complication Limited Edition Tokyo 2023 and has a salmon dial. The dial has gone without the additional hand-guillochéed “Carbon” motif seen on the titanium editions for Only Watch in 2017 and 2013 (Ref. 5004T).

The fresh Ref. 5308P-010 uses a new R CHR 27 PS QI caliber with a two-day power reserve. Its manufacture movement comprising 799 components is housed in a case measuring 42 mm × 17.7 mm. Unlike the unique piece for the charity auction, the Japanese premiere is limited to 15 pieces.

Another novelty unveiled at the exhibition in Tokyo was World Time Ref. 5330G-010 Limited Edition Tokyo 2023, which sports a head-turning bright purple dial with a guilloché center.

But those who keep track of changes in Patek Philippe's line will probably be more interested in the fact that Ref. 5330G-010 is the first World Time equipped with a date indication synchronized with local time.

The local-time date is controlled by a patented differential system in the automatic caliber 240 HU C. Availability of this watch in a white-gold case measuring 40 mm × 11.57 mm is limited to 300 pieces.

Another World Time model equipped with a minute repeater was exhibited in Tokyo: World Time Minute Repeater Ref. 5531R-014 Limited Edition Tokyo 2023.

The map of continents typically seen on World Time models by Patek Philippe hs been replaced by a map of Tokyo's Chūō ward on this model, which is where the Ginza shopping district and Nihonbashi business district are located.

The first version of the Ref. 5531 model was launched in 2017. The Tokyo edition is presented in a case measuring 40.2 mm × 11.49 mm. Housed inside the 15 limited piece is automatic caliber R 27 HU.
