In 2013, the Antwerp-based watchmaker Ressence and its Type 3 model won the Horological Revelation Prize at Geneva's Grand Prix d’Horlogerie. Now it has dedicated a new bright red edition to charity.

The prizewinning watch's category, horological revelations, is an apt description for the type of watches Ressence creates, who have replaced the hands traditionally used to read the time with disks fixed on a common base caliber, abandoned the crown in favor of a rotating caseback, and flooded the space between the glass and the dial with oil to cancel out refracted light and give the display a new sense of clarity.

What could make this watch even more exclusive? Just create one limited edition charity watch and give part of the proceeds to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. That and the bright red dial and a red strap.

The Ressence Type 3 MC was developed in collaboration with the Art in Time watchmaking gallery which had just opened in Monaco. This is no an ordinary boutique with carefully selected brands. The project that has brought together less than a dozen attractive collector’s brands was Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's idea, who is the Co-President of Chopard and creator of the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud brand, which has reinterpreted the original 18th-century watchmaker's brilliant ideas.

Art in Time features watches by Ferdinand Berthoud, Chopard, Greubel  Forsey, H. Moser & Cie, L'Epée, MB&F, Ressence, Florian Schlumpf and Urwerk. The gallery in Monaco follows in the footsteps of other famous boutiques, which made no less an important name for themselves as the brands they sold before beginning to encourage manufactures and studios to create special limited edition pieces to be sold exclusively through their boutiques.

Art in Time undertook the sale of the single-edition piece from the Ressence collection, and donated part of the proceeds to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The charity which is dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development has supported more than 530 environmental projects.
