Ressence celebrates the 75th anniversary of retail partner Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.

Back in 2022, to mark the UAE’s 50th anniversary, Hublot paid tribute to the country’s identity with the Classic Fusion Chronograph Concrete Sand, crafted for long-standing partner Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. Its design blended concrete for the cities and desert sand for the dial – a concept that clearly resonated.

Fast forward to 2025, and Ressence now honors Seddiqi’s 75th anniversary with a creation that takes this idea even further: the TYPE 9 S75, a watch with a dial composed of real sand sourced equally from all seven Emirates – Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, and Sharjah.

At the heart of the TYPE 9 S75 lies the brand’s patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), which is driven by the minute axle of a customized automatic calibre based on the ETA 2892-2.

The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, features 31 jewels, and offers a 36-hour power reserve. In true Ressence fashion, there’s no traditional crown – instead, the caseback handles winding and setting, while the dial itself serves as a bridge supporting the system’s rotating discs. Small circular openings in the sand layer reveal key pivot points of the ROCS module.

With a case height of only 11 mm, the design team had to strike a balance between textural richness and visual refinement – ultimately favoring elegance. A similar approach was seen in the TYPE 8 Indigo Limited Edition, where silk thread patterns created an airy woven motif with deliberate gaps.

 

The 39 mm case and caseback are made from lightweight grade 5 titanium, bringing the total case weight to just 40 grams. In a nod to local culture, the watch comes fitted with a camel leather strap, enhancing its Middle Eastern character.

Numerals on the hour disc and markers on the peripheral minute track are coated in green Super-LumiNova® for nighttime legibility. Water resistance is rated at 10 meters – modest, but entirely appropriate for a watch inspired by the desert. The TYPE 9 S75 is a limited edition of 20 pieces, blending poetic symbolism with Ressence’s cutting-edge mechanical vision.
