The manufacture is summoning feelings of nostalgia at the beginning of 2025 by introducing the Charming Bird Titanium watch.

In 2022, Jaquet Droz's CEO Alain Delamuraz spoke about the brand's new strategy: the company broke with the Grande Seconde collection, cut ties with retailers, and shifted its focus to exclusivity and personalization.

Since then, interesting one-of-a-kind novelties have been unveiled to the general public, such as automata dedicated to Rolling Stones albums, a skeleton watch for Bon Jovi, or the recent model in collaboration with Chantal Thomass. Not only did the lucky figure-eight display on Grande Seconde dials seem to be a thing of the past, so did the much-loved families of birds that came to life.

But to the delight of fans, they weren't. A new anniversary version of the Charming Bird model has just been unveiled to the world, ten years after it was awarded the Mechanical Exception Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

Jaquet Droz has shown that the brand can uphold its own traditions and take a step forward at the same time. We've been introduced to another songbird-shaped automaton beneath a dome of sapphire crystal that forms the lower half of the traditional figure eight, only now the case is made of titanium.

The watch has become 20% lighter, minus 42 grams, while the watchmaker's intricate work with metal is a big plus. Despite the complexity of working with titanium, engineers at Jaquet Droz have managed to keep the same case geometry.

The Charming Bird Titanium is equipped with a double sapphire crystal to reveal the openworked movement on the dial side and separately protect the bird. The lateral opening between 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock hasn't gone anywhere either.

The bird measuring 13.5 mm in height springs to life thanks to engraving and painting rendered by hand. It sings, opens its beak, twirls, flaps its wings, and shakes its tail. The watch owner can enjoy three notes of whistling birdsong for around thirty seconds.

The feathered work of art has a dedicated, independent power reserve, wound using a crown at two o'clock to bring it to life. In keeping with the watchmaker's new strategy, the Charming Bird Titanium model has been launched as a unique piece.
