Dr. Woo partners with the watch brand once again.

The meticulously shaded rose on Justin Bieber's neck, the coat of arms on Cara Delevingne's ribcage, the medieval Italian snake devouring a human on Miley Cyrus' forearm (Coat of arms of the Visconti of Milan), and the Arabic script on Bella Hadid's shoulder — these are all works by tattoo artist Brian Woo, better known as Dr. Woo.

He's considered the most sought-after tattooist on the planet: the waiting list for a slot at his L.A. studio is backed up for the next two years. The artist explains that this isn't just down to his popularity, he's also busy working on other projects.

Dr. Woo isn't just working on his own skincare and cosmetics line, he also teams up in collaborations: rethinking the design of tops with Jean Paul Gaultier using tattoo designs for Sacai, making sneakers for Converse, a ceramic incense chamber for Neighborhood and watches for Roger Dubuis.

This is already the second phase of his partnership with Roger Dubuis: the Dr. Woo Monotourbillon for 2021 is now being followed up by a model called Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier for 2023. Symbols have once again appeared on a transparent dial in the tattoo artist's minimalistic style.

The engravings are metalized in pink gold. Satin-brushed pink gold is also used for the hands. While the previous model paired these elements with a gold case, black ceramic has now been chosen as the new case material.

The only element made of another material is the titanium caseback with sapphire crystal. The case measures 42 mm in diameter. Roger Dubuis' recognizable case with wide teeth is presented in an updated format with engraved illustrations — the kind you might see in works of tattoo art by Dr.  Woo.

Here you can see celestial bodies, rockets and more mysterious symbols. The graphics on the dial of the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier are paired with the geometry of openworked details from the automatic RD720SQ movement, where the large balance wheel and micro-rotor are carried onto the dial side.

The movement which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph ensures a 72-hour power reserve.
