A fresh tribute to the legendary endurance race — 24 Hours of Le Mans.

To mark TAG Heuer's 160th anniversary four years ago, Parisian communication agency DDB Paris and director Daniel Wolfe shot a 100-second film called the Longest Night, which explored the most difficult nocturnal stage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and the iconic Carrera chronograph.

The video showed how the race presents a personal challenge to drivers, who need to stay focused on the road. The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is another tribute to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Porsche 963 competing  in the race.

The car was introduced two years ago when the company announced their return to Le Mans. The design of the race car is based on the classic 956 and 962 models from the 1980s, while some elements borrowed from the 911 sports car.

You can also find many design nods in the Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963. The architecture of the skeleton dial is reminiscent of a Porsche race car's chassis.

The traditional race start time of 4 o'clock at Le Mans is highlighted with a red marker and red countdown minute intervals to the start. Even the design of the rubber strap traces the silhouette of NACA air inlets used on Porsche race cars.

The color palette draws on the livery of the car that will leave the starting grid at Le Mans. Counters are complemented by Super-LumiNova blocks inspired by the headlight design of the Porsche 911 model.

Lume also features on the date display, hands, and Porsche signature on the forged-carbon bezel. A rotor shaped like a Porsche steering wheel is fitted in the manufacture TH20-00 chronograph movement with a vertical coupling clutch.

The movement can be viewed through the caseback, each individually numbered XXX/963. The steel case measures 44 mm in diameter and 15.1 mm in height, which features alternating brushed and polished surfaces.

The engine powering the novelty is a member of the second Heuer 02 generation of calibers which debuted in 2017. TH20-00 runs at a frequency of 4 Hz and has an 80-hour power reserve.
