Openworked dials in the collection for the first time.
This May, the brand TAG Heuer unveiled the first watch with an openworked dial in the permanent Monaco collection. Skeletons have already appeared in the collection, although availability was always limited to no more than a handful of pieces.
Take the unique carbon watch powered by caliber Heuer 02 with openworked details made for Only Watch in 2021. It significantly exceeded its pre-auction estimate of CHF 50,000 – 100,000 when it sold for CHF 290,000.
While the model for the charity auction was strikingly black, the Monaco "Riviera" Monte Carlo Boutique Limited Edition was the opposite, turning heads with its bright turquoise details. Availability of this edition was limited to 30 pieces.
This year's TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton has been launched as an unlimited series available in no less than three color versions sporting dials with a new geometry. The 1970s classic has been released in “Original Blue”, “Racing Red” and “Turquoise”.
The latter version boasts a surprising combination of turquoise accents with a black DLC-coated case. The other two models are presented in non-treated titanium. They all have the same case size: 39 mm.
It's interesting that the trendy turquoise shade makes its way into all versions: this was the tone used for the luminescent coating on the hands, date aperture at 6 o'clock and markers that extend towards the center of the dial. So in poorly lit conditions, turquoise will become the main color in any case.
All the skeletons are equipped with the same modern workhorse used in chronographs by TAG Heuer: Heuer 02 with a 80-hour power reserve. The skeletonized rotor is accompanied by colored signatures that match the dial composition.
The same color is used on the column wheel which can be viewed through the transparent caseback. The case of the TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton is worn on an embossed calfskin and rubber strap. It’s the first time this bi-material strap has been chosen for a TAG Heuer Monaco watch.
