TAG Heuer decided to celebrate its 160th anniversary from the first days of the year and introduced a new version of the legendary Carrera chronograph.
The model contains encrypted symbols that tell us the history of the brand. For example, the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition is limited to 1860 pieces, indicating the year when Edouard Heuer founded the Heuer company in Saint-Imier, Switzerland.
The choice of the year – 1964, as the historical basis of Carrera watch is also not accidental: it recalls the business trip of the young Jack Hoare, the fourth-generation leader of the family business, to the United States, and his admiration for the American Joie de vivre.
Jack named the new chronograph, which became a symbol of its time, after the rally from Guatemala to the United States - "Carrera Panamericana."
At the same time, the new anniversary product takes into account all modern design trends:
- the new model has grown from 36 to 39 mm,
- the hands now are faceted,
- SuperLuminova luminescent coating in beige is used instead of tritium, and the Valjoux 72 mechanism that was used in the original watch, has been replaced by the Caliber Heuer 02,
- the architecture of the Caliber 02 contains a mechanism with a vertical transmission,
- column wheel and a balance frequency of 4 HZ, has a power reserve of 80 hours (30 more hours than the previous Heuer 01 caliber),
- while reducing the height to 6.95 mm, which allowed making the case thinner.
