Is green the new black?

Collections by Hublot, TAG Heuer, Bulgari and Zenith never looked as homogenous as they did January's LVMH Watch Week. The common thread binding these novelties together was the color green. Zenith unveiled a Chronomaster with a green dial and bezel, Bulgari paved a dial with a mosaic of malachite fragments, Hublot presented a watch made of green SAXEM, and TAG Heuer had two teal Carreras.

One of these colorful novelties was the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. The name synonymous with this tourbillon's appearance in the brand's line is Carole Forestier-Kasapi. In 2020, the management team at TAG Heuer made her their Movement Director, and never looked back. Moreover, Forestier-Kasapi was already a legend before joining TAG Heuer, and had overseen movement creation at Cartier since 2005.

It wasn't long before her work at TAG Heuer bore fruit: the solar-powered TH50-00, the TH30-00 accurate to -4/+6 seconds a day with a 70-hour power reserve, and the TH20-09, which combined the functions of a chronograph with a tourbillon. The TH20-09 made its debut in the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon at last year's Watches and Wonders.

Now a new version of this watch has been unveiled with a circular brushed teal dial. The COSC-certified automatic caliber with a 65-hour power reserve and a balance frequency of 28,000 vph is housed in a steel case. The novelty was welcomed into the "Glassbox" series, but it's larger than the other 39-mm models at 42 mm. Its case height is 14.33 mm.

The round Glassbox crystal rises up over the dial, where the tourbillon at 6 o'clock cuts into the minute track. This complication's metal frame attracts even more attention.

The tourbillon occupies the place normally reserved for small seconds at 6 o'clock, while the standard chronograph counters are positioned above it: a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock. The circular grooves on these snailed counters are an extension of the dial's circular decoration.
