Dinosaurs are inspiring! You only need to take a look at Urwerk's range to see why.
This is a range of models that fills your imagination with pictures of prehistoric predators. There's the UR-105 T-Rex unveiled in 2016 which has a bronze case with a scaly dinosaur-hide pattern, the Urwerk T8 Raptor that debuted last year with a hand-engraved velociraptor by Johnny “King Nerd” Dowell, and this year's novelty — the UR-100V T-Rex for 2021.
The brand hasn’t looked to the long-necked Barosaurus or the herbivorous Scolosaurus for inspiration. It has looked again to the Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning "king" in Latin), the six-meter tall predator that weighed up to eight tons. The UR-100V T-Rex has borrowed the scaly diamond-shaped pattern that covers its bronze case from these prehistoric inhabitants of the earth. The caseback is made from black PVD-coated titanium.
The co-founders of Urwerk have once again turned to their emblematic digital satellite time display with three arms, each of which has four hour numerals to display the time. The watch caroussel works nicely with the 60-minute scale at the bottom of the dial. Another of the watch's highlights is its Windfänger automatic winding system, which adapts to suit the wearer's lifestyle by regulating the oscillating mass when the watch owner is extremely active to prevent excessive winding of the barrel.
But that's not all. UR-100V T-Rex not only takes your imagination on a journey back in time to the Mesozoic Era, it also makes you think about the evolution of the universe. In the scale at 9 o'clock on the case, the pointer shows the 555.5 km traveled by a point on the equator in a period of 20 minutes. The 20-minute scale on the opposite side of the dial corresponds to 35.742 km, which is the distance the Earth travels in its orbit around the sun in that time.
