The low-key luxury watch brand has released the last episode of the 105 Series.

Towards the end of a long novel or series, you've already become familiar with its protagonists and antagonists, you appreciate its specific type of humor, and savor all the little details. That's the type of feeling you get when you look at the UR-105 Tantalum Hull model.

This watch is the last in the collection which debuted in 2014.  Back then, the brand's founders Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei used the UR-103 satellite indication and the UR-210's characteristic case shape. The UR-105M ‘Iron Knight’ and ‘Dark Knight' novelties showcased the natural progression of the co-founders' ideas.

The novelties were marketed as watches inspired by the medieval knights, clad in luxurious suits of armor, with helmets to protect the complicated movements shielded their visors. The watchmakers at Urwerk have been producing reincarnations of their knight for almost a decade.

Some of these watches looked like dinosaurs (the 2016 T-Rex), some ditched subtlety for multicolored details (the UR-105 TA Clockwork Orange from the same year), some began to glow in the dark (the 2018 UR-105 CT Kryptonite), and others experimented with materials (the 2019 UR-105 CT Maverick in titanium and bronze). Now it's the last episode — time for all the plot’s twisting strands to be brought together.

The UR-105 TTH wraps it all up. The model's main innovation is its use of titanium in a material named after a figure from Greek mythology called Tantalus. But the watchmakers were tested by "the Torment of Tantalus", as this unyielding metal literally ate away at the bits on their CNC machines. But the look of the silver-white case they achieved was worth it in the end! It measures 39.50 × 53 × 17.8 mm.

The UR-105 TTH model is limited to 12 pieces equipped with the familiar UR 5.03 automatic movement. It controls the carousel of futuristic satellites, each bearing three numerals for the hours. The hours sweep past the minutes scale to display the exact time. An openworked seconds disk weighing less than 0.10 grams is the highlight of the movement, made using the LIGA photolithography process.

The traditional turbine control system regulating the movement’s automatic winding is visible on the caseback: the automatic winding system can be deactivated, watch owners who lead an extremely active lifestyle can slow it down, or winding can be maximized so that even the slightest wrist movement is enough to power the watch.
