Vacheron Constantin is taking the Overseas collection to the next level this spring with the new open mechanism watches. Models with complex functions were chosen as a platform for experiments.
Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton watches reveal the secrets of the mechanism that controls the perpetual calendar. The elements of the caliber gave up everything superfluous and were cut in such a way as to make the interaction of the parts as transparent as possible.
Despite the presence of a calendar, the fully skeletonized manufacture mechanism 1120 QPSQ / 1 is particularly delicate: it is only 4.05 mm thick. An amazing indicator, given that this caliber can independently adjust the readings following the number of days in a month and monitor the movement of the moon. This refinement allowed enclosing a caliber of 276 parts in a rose gold case 8.1 mm high.
The dial isn't the only thing that becomes an arena for a real performance to exquisite mechanics enthusiasts.
The creators of the mechanism, open from the back cover side, offer to watch the rotor's soothing movement with a Maltese cross and an arch of 22-carat gold (it was also first skeletonized in the Overseas collection).
The mood of an elegant novelty can be made more sporty thanks to the blue rubber strap included in the kit, and classic lovers will like an additional alligator leather strap.
